The strategic development of the physical development plan for the Western Sub Region of Kuwait and the design and production of detailed area Masterplans for two main eco-towns and 5 eco-villages.
The strategic development resulted in the creation of the Kuwait Greentech corridor: a 1,700 sq km site that is set to become a regional test bed and model for sustainable development within a desert context that includes innovative commercial agricultural techniques, green energy parks, an innovation and research centre and sustainable communities and homes.
The initiative was based on the need to mitigate Kuwait’s current situation. Kuwait heavily depends on imported food, increasingly leans on its oil driven economy and is one of the highest consumers of energy in the world; all of which contribute to its unstable outlook. Instead, Kuwait is in need of becoming a more sustainable and self-sufficient nation and in response to this and the Emir of Kuwait’s 2030 target to provide 15%
of Kuwait’s domestic energy from renewable sources- a Greentech initiative for the Western Region was borne.
