The preparation of a strategic development plan for Mainland Central, the densely populated heart of urban Lagos. The study area covered approximately 70 square kilometres, included four government areas and was home to over 4 million people.
The development plan will guide the future investment and delivery of major developments in Mainland Central over the next 20 years.
The strategic development plan for Mainland Central is based upon detailed land use surveys, demographic growth trends, social and economic analysis, key environmental and transport issues and a thorough understanding of development capacity.
To manage, classify and analyse the study data a comprehensive GIS Database was built, providing an invaluable resource for the future development.
Detailed Action Area Plans were also prepared for four significant areas within the study area: Mushin, Okobaba, Otto and Surulere. The location, size and scope of the Action Area Plans were selected by the client and agreed upon following the results of the strategic development plan.
